The following are terrific tools to use with students on computers, but they require a download.

1. Audacity - Audacity is a FREE open-source software for recording and editing sounds. I have used Audacity many times to record students doing a Reader's Theatre or reading a story. They love to hear themselves read and it helps them build confidence and increase their fluency. You also have to download the LAME Encoder (lets you export mp3 files). Here are the links to both downloads:

2. Photostory 3 - make video slideshows with your digital pictures. You can add text to your photos and record your voice. Here is the link for the download: Photostory 3
I've seen many students use this program. It is very student friendly. It doesn't give you as many effects and transitions as Slide or Animoto.

3. Smilebox - www.smilebox.com

4. Format Factory - LOVE this tool! This is my all-time favorite converter software. It converts wmv's to mp4 to avi, whatever you need! It's great because you can load several files to convert at the same time and it's FAST!
